The original name of the company was Ricarp Productions which Richard Laidlaw started in 1985 after touring overseas with a series of International shows. Upon returning to Australia, Richard saw the need to create a company to produce shows to keep himself employed, thus the creation of Ricarp Productions.

Ricarp Productions quickly established itself an a market leader producing and touring shows throughout Asia to Amusement Parks, Casino's, Theatres and Cruise ships. In 1995 Richard Laidlaw bought Australian based Entertainment Agency "Essential Talent" known for it's large market share of the corporate entertainment industry, due to a shortage of trained performers Richard, Tony & Roz decided to start the Performance Academy to train the performers of the future.

In 1999 Richard expanded the company again with the purchase of Actor Ink an agency representing Professional Actors as well an Casting agency casting TV Commercials and Films. Essential Talent Agency & School as well as Actors Ink is the only company of it's kind in Australia.
