In 1985 Ricarp Productions produced it's first show for the Adelaide nightclub scene, this was to be the beginnings of Essential Talent an International Production Company.

Richard Laidlaw a performer himself decided to ensure a future in the entertainment industry by developing a company that not only produced shows but also acted as an agency for variety performers and acts. Looking to conquer greater markets it wasn't long before Ricarp Productions had develop a touring circuit in Asia touring over 150 shows to date.

Ricarp Productions had secured it's position in the International market and it was time to take the next step to develop the Australian market. At this time Richard was offered the opportunity to purchase Essential Talent which was a thriving company producing most of Adelaide's corporate entertainment, this seemed the perfect natural progression for Ricarp Productions. The Ricarp name was dropped, & Richard went to work developing what has become a leader in International & Australian entertainment.

In 2002 we recognised the need to start an Entertainment Academy training performers for the industry ensuring a never ending flow of talent. Essential Talent Performance Academy is now the largest entertainment school in Adelaide featuring 5 state of the art training studios running approximately 70 classes each week.
