RICHARD LAIDLAW – Competed at State & National levels, winning State championships title in Juvenile, Novice & Junior.
After a successful competitive career he went onto tour internationally on ice and stage with companies such as Disney, Warner Bros and Hollywood on Ice before settling down in Adelaide to coach.
Fascinated by ice, he commissioned and built his own ice rink at the age of 14 since then he’s built many portable ice rinks used for shows and pop up rinks around the world.
Richard has worked with skaters from beginner to elite. His students winning state and national titles as well as competing on the international competition circuit and Junior World Championships.
Always building his knowledge Richard believes you can never stop learning, attending many camps and workshops in Australia and overseas.
An Australian Level 3 coach, Richard believes coaching skating goes far beyond the ice, he is coach, mentor, friend and confidant to his students. His approach shapes and molds an athlete, his philosophy is to teach skaters a clear understanding for the mechanics of jumping and spinning, develop planning and goal setting skills and to have a clear overview of competition, rules and training and performance methods.
This approach has worked well for Richard as he has produced many champions. Dream big and make it happen is his motto!
